Better: A Process
howdy.

I'm a 24 year old fullstack engineer who is also attempting... to attempt game development. You can see my very, very empty itch.io account, so verdict is still kinda out there on how that's gonna go (it's been over a year since I originally wrote this and still nothing so...).

MaxRewards is my home base. I'm currently the lead developer, and I have my sights set on becoming lead guy-who-develops-but-can-also-do-other-things too. Anything is possible!

I've been programming since my dad downloaded Netbeans on the home desktop computer; one of the first programs I got to mess around with involved some wombats and some grids. Not sure if I'm remembering that one exactly right, but I do know that that's how I learned about wombats.

I've been hooked ever since.

About Me, The Engineer

My first official developer experience was developing for a fairly large-scale Angular 5 app that also utilized Yii2 (think Laravel's older cousin) on the backend, and I've also become more familiar with Ruby as of recent. I'm currently trying to build and deploy some of the services we use at MaxRewards using Go, but I might hold off on that one for now as our team is all in on TypeScript.

I've been fortunate enough to be able to touch all ends of application development, but I'd definitely like to learn more DevOps since the idea of "push button. application live. no problems probably" seems very very cool.

About This Website

This is a blog, mostly. It runs using Jekyll and some other small ruby scripts I've thrown together for deployment. I'll likely post the source sans secrets somewhere SoonTM. You'll almost definitely learn more about what and how I code by visiting my GitHub profile (also in the sidebar on desktop and footer on mobile). My resume is also there, though here's a link anyway if you're interested.

I enjoy writing (though I'm not very good at it), and so I've made a commitment to at least one blog post every month. I'll spend the vast majority of my time discussing random code snippets or projects I've run across that I've found interesting, but you might also see some garbled text and other rambling as well.
