A Viewify Debrief
This is a long post. All “lessons learned” expressed in this post were the result of 3 people who worked really hard to get to where we all are now.

We’re currently deep in the build process of the Viewify 2MVP. So naturally, I’m scrolling through Hacker News and DEV.to. In my DEV.to feed, someone posed a question about how you would approach a synoptic map in Angular.
It took less than an hour to figure out how to pull all of our videos from Vimeo. What followed, though, was an entire weekend of head-scratching, dealing with messy edge cases, and then waiting for 300-something-GB worth of files to download. Or really, waiting for that download to fail multiple times so I could figure out what went wrong.
Okay. I’m not actually taking anything from The International 2019 prizepool (if I could, I’d detail that in a separate blog post probably). However, in the OpenDota discord someone did pose this question:
I’m learning Go right now! It’s easy enough, but more importantly, it’s fun. Like, really really fun (well, kind of). We’re in the process of retiring the Yii2 REST API that powers Viewify (more on this in another blog post), and the ease of just picking up and writing in Go really piqued my interest.
